“Other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great. As He said these things, He would call out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear … the seed is the word of God … But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.” Luke 8:4-15
God’s plan is for believers to see results that are a hundred times greater than the common man. But His plan has only one path to success –
Hear God’s Word with an honest and good heart.
Think about it – disciples of Jesus with fruit a hundred times greater than others. Talk about standing out in the crowd. A church of 100 true disciples could have the impact of 10,000 who are not hearing God’s Truth with honest and good hearts.
Sound impossible? I know this all gets complicated when you multiply it out by a hundred, but God only wants to talk to you and me here. Jesus explains clearly why so many fail.
“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity.
1. They are deceived and do not believe that God’s word is truth.
2. Lustful temptation causes them to abandon the truth.
3. Worries, riches, and the pleasures of life lure them away from the truth.
So how are you doing? Are you listening to God speak to you by His Spirit and through His Word with an honest and good heart? It’s a simple either/or answer. Paul is quite clear here: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.” Galatians 5:16-17
And if your still not sure where you stand; here is both the fruit of self-centered and Christ-centered living. Just be honest with yourself.
How do you measure up?
“Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these —
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:19-23
Does love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control best describe you? How do we move from wherever we are to where God want for us to be? (His fruit one hundredfold) This should be a never-ending question for the remainder of our lives here on earth.
First we must believe in Jesus and His truth and this sanctifies us from lust and pride and the evils of this world. Pray for forgiveness and reconciliation. And then you need to understand God’s only way to overcome lust and pride in your life everyday – by the power of the Spirit within you. “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh” You can’t do it. I can’t do it. Nobody can not sin without the help of the helper that Jesus sent to abide in our heart.
“These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” John 14:25-27
No need to worry, no need to be afraid, no more troubled heart – Jesus has given you victory over your old self and your old ways moment by moment, day by day – every day — FOREVER.
What if I stumble, what I fall? Who will save me then? —
Jesus FOREVER – Nothing can ever separate us from His Love
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
“A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
So how are you doing? Do you hear God’s Word with “an honest and good heart.”
Stand on His Truth, with all of you heart, mind and soul. Always reading God’s Word, asking, praying, studying, meditating, and listening. And Always Believe.
Now Get ready for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in great abundance.
Grace and Peace to you my friends,
