Abortion is murder. Period

Even several prominent feminists agree.

America is guilty for murdering 50 million babies in the past 50 years. We must fight to stop this EVIL

After reading Ray Miller-Still’s pro-choice editorial (“Examining second- and third- trimester abortions,” published March 27), I felt compelled to voice my opinion on this controversial subject.

Let me begin by quoting two pro-abortion proponents:

Naomi Wolf, a prominent feminist and author, defends graphic depictions of abortion in a “New Republic” article. In it, she warns abortion supporters to stop lying: “Clinging to rhetoric about abortion in which there is no life and no death, we entangle our beliefs in a series of self-delusions, fibs and evasions, and we risk becoming precisely what our critics charge us with: callous, selfish and casually destructive men and women who share a cheapened view of human life… [we] need to contextualize the fight to defend abortion rights within a moral framework that admits that the death of a fetus is a real death.”

Feminist Camille Paglia is even more blunt: “I have always frankly admitted that abortion is murder, the extermination of the powerless by the powerful. Liberals for the most part have shrunk from facing the ethical consequences of their embrace of abortion, which results in the annihilation of concrete individuals and not just clumps of insensate tissue.”

The reigns of Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, and Mao Tse-Tung are examples of societies in which law was twisted by the state to allow for the murder of millions. Since 1973 we have killed 60,942,033 babies in this country. That averages out to about 3,630 a day.

Ray, in your article you offer nothing in defense of babies. It’s like they’re a nonentity. You talk about early term abortions as though they are more humane, and a super-majority of Americans believe they should be legal, but the result is still a dead baby.

The Christian super-majority in which I dwell believes babies, beginning at conception, are a gift from God. They are made in God’s image and likeness, He breathes life into them and a soul that will someday transcend this life and enter the next. At conception we become distinct human beings with our own unique DNA. As a human being, I believe babies should have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness regardless of age.

I realize not everyone has my belief in our out of my religion affiliation. To those, I appeal to your sense of humanity and moral responsibility. The fact of the matter is, most abortions happen because of selfish and irresponsible behavior and a blasé attitude about the results of it. It’s not like it’s non-preventable.

I would like to see all taxpayer’s funding of non-medically necessary abortions stop. Why should I pay for something I believe is an atrocity? Those deemed medically necessary should go before a medical board that is independent from clinics that make their living performing abortions. I also believe necessary procedures where the mother and/or child are at risk should have all care covered by insurance and receive care in a hospital setting.

If you’ve have an abortion, or are considering one, consider talking to God about it. He is good and His mercy endures forever. There are organizations that provide free counseling, sonograms, and resources. “Save the Storks” is one of those organizations that have vans throughout the country with these services free of charge.
