“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-13
Are you ready to give up your childish ways?
Are you ready to move on from milk to solid food?
The love of Christ is at first humbling – and then empowering …
and then you will be encouraged and filled with courage.
“and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.”
2 Corinthians 5:15
Jesus humbled Himself so that by believing in Him we can have eternal life and walk in His victory every day — as we humble ourselves to His eternal truth, and to the leading of the Holy Spirit who forever abides within us. In order to put on the mind of Christ and walk in His steps, we must put off our old ways. Humility is the first step. The other-centered love of Jesus Christ goes against the grain of our human nature. Pride and lust are the “OLD NORMAL” — our worldly point of view. These old ways unconsciously control and guide our thinking.
We need to put on the spiritual – OUR NEW NORMAL.
Learning to love God’s way begins with some humbling questions:
Are you patient? Are you kind? Are you envious?
Are you boastful? Are you arrogant? Are you rude?
Do you insist on your own way? Are you irritable? Are you resentful?
Do you rejoice at wrongdoing – or do you rejoice with the truth?
Does your love bear all things?
Does your love believe in all things?
Does your love have hope in all things?
Does your love endure all things?
Does your Love never end?
The love of Jesus is perfect love. In order for His love to guide us, we must be willing to follow. There may only be one or two questions here that are pointing directly at you or me. Humble yourself NOW and gain strength through His grace. Humility is empowering. “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.” James 4:10
Would you like God’s power? Would you like to be strong and courageous? The Love of Christ is most empowering and brings never-ending encouragement.
His promise is that satan and the world forces of darkness and evil will flee from us, and that when we abide in Him … Jesus will give us peace and rest.
Are you getting up there in years? It’s time to put off your childish ways. It’s time to stop acting like mere men. It’s time for us to see ourselves in the same way as Jesus sees us:
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.”
1 Peter 2:9-11
Purify your hearts … and stand in your victory.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 5:6-8
Rejoice – The Perfect Has Come …
Your old ways are the partial,
It is time for the partial to pass away.
It is time for our love to endure all things,
And for His love to never end.
Grace and Peace to you my friends,
