“Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures” Luke 24:44-45
Do you have an open mind to the things of God? Or are you still drifting along with a closed mind? Many might say; “yes, I believe in Jesus, I’m a Christian; but then their views are totally contrary to, and often disregard the things that are clearly most important to God. How can this be true? How can it be that believers in Jesus promote evolution and other false teachings of this fallen world?
In this scripture, we can see that even after following in Jesus’ steps for years, His disciples still had closed minds to the truth. Would things instantly change for you if Jesus stood next to you and said; “Peace be to you?” This is exactly what Jesus said to the disciples just before He appeared out of nowhere and opened their minds to understand the scriptures.
And here’s how the disciples reacted when Jesus was suddenly standing in their midst — “startled, troubled, frightened, and doubtful” Not quite the world-changers yet – now were they?
Wouldn’t it be easier to understand God, if we looked at things from a spiritual context; rather than with our worldly logic, feelings, desires, and opinions clouding the truth?
What would be different if we could see ourselves and the world from God’s point of view?
Can you get a picture of the way God sees it?
“And He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” Luke 24:46-47
“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
“Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever. Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.” 1 John 2:15-18
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” Ephesians 6:12-13
Here’s the picture?
The gospel is for all
The unbelieving are blinded
The problem – evil controls all the world
The Spirit of Truth abides in you
The Way – Put On Truth – Resist Evil – Stand Firm
